Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology

Obstetrics-gynecology consists of two areas: obstetrics that deals with delivery and maternity nursing before and after delivery and gynecology that deals with functional and congenital abnormalities of sex and generative organs as part of female health care.

Obstetrics

This area deals with phenomena and treatments related with pregnancy, delivery and puerperium (up to six weeks after delivery). In a broad sense, it can be said to be a study that deals with all physiological, pathological, psychological and social factors that may have serious qualitative and quantitative effects on new generations. The purpose of obstetrics is to minimize the deaths of mothers and babies occurring in the processes of pregnancy and delivery by minimizing related physiological, intellectual, and/or emotional damage.

Gynecology

Through basic, clinical and socio-medical studies related to female generative functions, in particular among human generative functions, gynecology improves women’s health and the health of overall society. General gynecology has been gradually specialized into generative endocrinology, gynecological oncology, gynecology, genitourinary medicine and gynecological psychosomatic medicine.

The department of obstetrics-gynecology of the HanilGeneral Hospital performs prenatal care (for normal mothers and high risk mothers), amniotic fluid examination, and precision ultrasonography in the areas of obstetrics and general gynecological care, menopausal care, gynecological oncology, gynecological endocrinology and laparoscopic surgery.
